Q: How much do tokens cost? Is there a minimum?

Token prices are based on two things – size and quantity. As a rule of thumb, if your tokens have a super simple design (barely any text), 1.5” will probably work for you. 1.75” is our gold standard that works well for the majority of use cases. We sometimes make 2″ tokens to capture super fine detail, just reach out to us if that’s what you’d like. Don’t worry we will help guide you during the design process of what will work best. We want to give every business a chance to get their own custom tokens, so our minimum order amount is set at just 50.

Q: Do I have the option for single or double-sided tokens?

Yes! We have both options. For single sided tokens there would be a laser engraved design on one side and a stained back (dark brown English chestnut). For double sided, we would laser engraved on both sides. To check out pricing for both options – head on over to our Shop.

Q: What are tokens made of?

We use ¼” maple ply for our tokens so you really get the feel of something unique that will last for a long time.

Q: What size do you recommend for my design?

If there’s a lot of small detail in your tokens, the best way to ensure that it turns out well is to get the larger size tokens (1.75). Small text, especially small text that’s an island surrounded by engraving, are what pose the biggest issues. But in most cases, we’re able to make the design work and look good.

Q: Can you color the engravings on the tokens?

Our tokens are laser engraved on wood. Think of them like a black and white photo, as of now, we do not offer any color options with our tokens, but that is likely to change in the near future.

How much do tokens cost? Is there a minimum?

The minimum number of tokens you can buy is 50 and token prices are based on a few things – size, quantity and single or double sided.

Buying in bulk is where the best prices are. The more you buy, the less cost per token. Large orders are what we’re good at. We know how to manufacture large quantities of tokens. But we’re just as happy to take small orders.

We give the same amount of attention to every order, whether it’s for 10,000 or 50, no order gets treated any better or worse than another.

Do I have the option for single or double-sided tokens?

Yes, we offer both single and double sided tokens. Single sided tokens are laser engraved on one side and a stained dark brown on the backside. Double sided tokens are laser engraved on both sides. Typically, double sided tokens are double the cost of single sided tokens.

What are tokens made of?

We use quality ¼” maple ply for our tokens. They’re very strong and unbreakable, unlike 1/8″ nickels which are brittle. They’re solid to the touch and you really get the feel of something that will last for a long time.

What is the turnaround time?

Once an order is placed, our typical turnaround time is 7-10 business days until tokens are on their way in the mail to you. There are random times during the year when we receive a lot of large orders which slows things down and the tokens can take 2-3 weeks before they ship. If you have a rush order just let us know. We can almost certainly get it to you in time and we’ll bump you up in the queue if needed. Anytime you need an order by a specific date, let us know and we’ll get it to you in time.

As a side note: Your items are personalized and made to order. We’re not simply plucking things off shelves and shipping them out. We have to make each and every one of what you purchase. Amazon and other big brands have trained us to expect things quickly, but we’re not a factory with conveyors looking for specific products to grab; we’re a small business who’s actually making the products. Your patience is appreciated.

Are there any design fees?

Nope! We love helping businesses create custom token designs that really help their brand stand out. If you have your own design – we can use that too! Just submit the design file here.

What types of files work best?

If you already have a design file made, .ai or .svg are our favorites. If you have images to submit for your design, we like .png and .jpg. We can also work with .pdf and .dxf files.

We’re looking for black and white with no shades of grey images & design files. The laser is either off or on. It engraves or it doesn’t. If you don’t have an image or file in this style, submit what you have and we’ll do our best to get it where it needs to be.

What's the Difference Between a Token, Drink Chip and a Nickel?

There is no difference between a round token, a round drink chip and a wooden nickel. They are the same thing with identical prices.

Drink chips allow you to choose a custom shape option, which slightly differs from a nickel or a round token. When you choose the custom shape option on the drink token product, it’s the same thing as the custom token product.

What are some things to keep in mind when designing a file?

If you’re working on your own design, there are some things you want to be mindful of.

Text size – try to avoid super small text or text that’s condensed when you can. This is especially true for the smaller 1.5″ tokens where text can end up being very small. If it’s too small, it won’t be legible.
Reverse engraving – areas that aren’t engraved which are surrounded by engraved areas, we call reverse engravings. Sometimes they’re called islands. These can look great, but you should avoid thin or small areas that are reverse engraved. Too thin and they hardly show up. Reverse engraves look best when they are thick or large. Avoid thin sections.
If you’re using a border, give it a good amount of margin to the edge where the cut line is. We recomment at least .08″ to the edge. When you don’t give it much margin, the cut can be off center a tiny fraction of a millimeter and it will stand out, not looking centered at all. When you have enough margin, you won’t even see that tiny fraction of a mm it’s off-center. And they’ll never be perfectly centered, for many reason.

What size do you recommend for my design?

Can I submit brand specific fonts to be used?

Absolutely – we can use any brand specific fonts that you may need, just send the .ttf or .otf file our way.

Can you color the engravings on the tokens?
